CM/Sports Ish: GHFC Day #3 | Hopkins Run’s A Clinic On Pavlik

October 19, 2008

Since B Hop was goin in on Pavlik’s face, squeezing off with the loaded gloves, I figured I would combine this post. Today’s song is called “Rap Ammunition”. Its a joint that me and J Trax did a cool one ago, and it still goes hard. Check out the joint then peep my take on last night’s fight after the jump.

Bernard Hopkins W UD12 Kelly Pavlik

It was just shy of Hopkins over Trinidad all over again. At 43, Bernard Hopkins dominated middleweight kingpin Kelly Pavlik over 12 rounds in Atlantic City in a completely one-sided fight. Hopkins rocked Pavlik in the first round and his ring savvy and crafty economic punching never let the bewildered youngster in the fight. Pavlik couldn’t time Hopkins with his jab and never seemed to land a noteworthy trademark right hand. Hopkins fought when he wanted and prevented Pavlik from doing anything effective when he didn’t. He steered through the late rounds with a smirk on his face and nearly stopped Pavlik in the 12th. It was all Bernard Hopkins, who even several years removed from his best, is still better than most. There was no anticipation when the 119-106, 118-108 and 117-109 official scores were read. Kelly Pavlik suffered the first lost of his pro career falling to 34-1, although his middleweight titles were not on the line with the fight being contracted for a catch weight of 170 pounds. With the win, Hopkins improves to 49-5-1, and his legend continues to grow.

If you missed it, you missed out.
